TYSA - A community where young people get a chance to excel

Who we are and what we do?

TYSA is a Social and  Football For Development NGO, committed to working with children and youth who are marginalized and vulnerable, those that slip through already weak social safety nets and those most vulnerable to abuse, violence, illiteracy, exploitation and diseases.

In TYSA children and youth come to play football.  As they play football, we enable them access education, know their rights and be mentored into leaders.

TYSA has grown its membership from 3 in 2001 to 15 in 2014

TYSA has grown from Self Help Group to Community Based Organization to NGO

The number of beneficiaries has grown from 3 in 2001 to over 70,000 in 2014

TYSA has grown from a single village to cover 7 counties

Success stories

“I dropped out of school in form two, got married for two years at the age of 16 and gave birth to a baby boy whom I could not cater for in my marriage. This forced me to go back home where I joined TYSA and played football. TYSA encouraged me to go back to school and I did. I have finished my form four and I’m now focused to develop my life, child and as well as support other girls in TYSA” Atieno Oduor- TYSA beneficiary.

“Having done my KCSE exam in2013 I was expecting my results these year of which I got it and am looking forward to join the university to pursue bachelor of commerce .I did an interview at Strathmore university and I passed the interview and I even got an admission letter of which am supposed to join on 30th march 2015”

“The brazil trip also exposed me to get used to media .I remember my first time to visit a radio station to talk was these year April at KBC radio station to talk about TYSA and our preparation to brazil, since it was my first time a was worried keeping in mind that I was addressing so many people but there after I got used to media and build my confidence. I also visited KBC TV and radio station severally and radio maisha too and a glob radio station called BBC .This opportunity gave me a chance to interact with people I used to hear them on air e.g. Dismas Otuke and  Stephen Mukangai”- George Waweru- TYSA Beneficiary.
